SEATTLE (Fremont) (directions for Vashon below)

NEW LOCATION AS OF MARCH 31, 2015

Rain City Rolfing is located at 3417 Evanston Ave. N., #417 in the beautiful Saturn Building, in Fremont. The Saturn Building is visible from afar by spying Saturn, perched on the roof. It sits between the renowned landmarks of The Red Door and Dave Page, Cobbler, and across the street from the Fremont Rocket Ship and PCC co-op.

The entrance to the building is a plain door leading into the lobby, marked only by 3417, just north of the Home Street Bank. Normally the door is unlocked, but there’s an intercom/directory next to the door where you can call and I can then buzz you in if it’s after hours.

Please note parking tips below. Come on in and either catch the elevator to the 4th floor or brave the stairs, and have a seat in the waiting area on the black couch diagonal to #417.

DIRECTIONS

If you are not familiar with getting to Fremont, I suggest leaving a little extra time to get the hang of the neighborhood and parking options.

From the North (via I-5)
From I-5, Probably your best bet is to hop over to 99S (Aurora Ave. N.) once you get into Seattle. I suggest getting off at 50th St. to head to Fremont. At Stone Way N., you have multiple options, but probably the easiest is to go left, all the way down the hill to N. 34th St. and turn right, into Fremont. Keep right as you approach the Fremont Bridge on your left, go through the signal, and start thinking of parking.

If traffic is thick, 85th or 80th are likely better routes over to 99S to ago the congestion. When you get to 99S, turn left and keep going. A BLOCK BEFORE the Aurora Bridge turn right on N. 39th St. and proceed to Fremont Ave. N. Go left on Fremont Ave. to N. 34th St. and turn right, and start thinking of parking.

From West Seattle or South (via 99) – I avoid I-5 like the plague these days and suggest you do, too, unless you know and trust the traffic patterns.
From the West Seattle Bridge, get onto 99 North. Follow 99 over the big bridge over Lake Union and get into the right lane BEFORE THE END OF THE BRIDGE, as you will exit immediately at the end of the bridge, and take the left to the signal, then left onto N. 38th St. Proceed to Fremont Ave. N. (see map). Go left on Fremont Ave. to N. 34th St. and turn right, and start thinking of parking.

From the Distant South (bypass Downtown via 99) – Again, I avoid I-5 like the plague these days and suggest you do, too, unless you know and trust the traffic patterns.
Coming north on I-5, take the exit for the airport and go west on 518. Go past the airport and eventually turn right (north) onto 509. 509 will eventually peter out into 99 and you will cross over a bridge into Seattle. Stay left, following 99. There will be a few traffic lights, and then it will turn into highway again along the waterfront.

From the South (via I-5) or the Eastiside
It’s probably best to check Google Maps or the like to choose the route you like the best. The main issue is to skirt Lake Union and get down into Fremont, whether from the north or the south. Personally, I prefer to avoid the prospect of getting stuck at the Fremont drawbridge.

From the Eastside - I tend to like the route getting off at Montlake and going by UW Medical Center on NE Pacific St. all the way to N. 34th St. Keep right as you approach the Fremont Bridge on your left, go through the signal, and start thinking of parking.

From the South (via I-5) - It’s somewhat of a toss-up between getting of at Mercer and then heading around the lake, or continuing up to 50th St. and heading west to Fremont as above. At Stone Way N., you have multiple options, but probably the easiest is to go left, all the way down the hill to N. 34th St. and turn right, into Fremont. Keep right as you approach the Fremont Bridge on your left, go through the signal, and start thinking of parking.

PARKING TIPS

• Click HERE for an interactive street parking map for Seattle, or refer to this map:

There are a lot of parking options near the Saturn Building. There is a very small lot for the building accessible from N. 35th St., but spots are limited. Directly in front of the building are metered spots. On the east/west streets, there are free spots of one and two hours, so please pay attention to the signage to avoid getting a ticket. There’s also a pay lot not far away. PCC, nearby, has a large free garage for customers, so if you patronize them, use their garage, which is down the alley directly across the street from the Saturn Building, underneath the store.

Vashon

Sessions are given on Maury Island at 6503 SW Luana Beach Rd.

From Vashon Island and NW Maury Island
Come onto Maury Island. Just past Engel’s gas station you will continue in the general direction of the lighthouse. Once you are on Pt. Robinson Rd., you’ll start up a long grade. At the top of the grade (about 3/4 mile), you’ll see SW Luana Beach Rd. taking off to the left. Turn left onto SW Luana Beach Rd., and the driveway is the first one on the right. My black mailbox has a blue number plate on the post and is on the left facing the driveway.

From S and E Maury Island
Make your way to Pt. Robinson Rd. and then to SW Luana Beach Rd. at its western end (closer to Engel’s), NOT at the end nearest the lighthouse. Turn onto SW Luana Beach Rd., and the driveway is the first one on the right. My black mailbox has a blue number plate on the post and is on the left facing the driveway.
